Divieto di Sosta…Who Cares

Posted on Nov 25, 2008 | 11 comments

So a break from my night photos to illustrate the front of my office. Yes, your eyes do not deceive you, that is a car basically parked in front of the door. Please note to the left of the door a sign that says “Divieto di Sosta,” which basically means you are not allowed to park in front of the door. As I’m sure my picture of the guy smoking in a no smoking zone illustrates, these rules are not commonly followed here. However, this idiot has parked their car in front of our office and left it here since Friday, driving M and I insane. Ok, I know we should just call the carabinieri and get it towed (and P, I know if you were here you would have been on the phone the first day), but we haven’t gotten up the Roman anger yet to make the call. Instead we stare at the car out the window and curse it. The person must live in the neighborhood, since it’s a restricted traffic zone, so you’d think they’d know better!

So, should we take bets on how many days it stays for?

  1. You could pick up that car and move it. I would say it might get moved by the weekend-maybe they’ll have to go somewhere. Better hope its not their new spot.

  2. make sure you leave a note on the car so they know..I will be happy to give suggestions about the text for the note!

  3. No place to move the car unfortunately without knocking over the motorino directly next to it. If it’s still here in the next few days, I think we’ll call.

Petu – I have no doubt you would add some lovely Roman “expressions” to the note šŸ™‚

  4. superglue in the driver side door lock is worth a thousand words

  5. I agree with Katie! You have to do something subtile but nasty enough. He or she will understand why but will not be able to complain… šŸ™‚

  6. Everyone is so vicious, I love it! M and I will have to think of something harmless, but strong enough so they’ll get it. The other problem is that it’s raining a lot these days, so a note or anything like that would probably just get washed away immediately.

  7. That is just rude!

It’s forecasted to be somewhat sunny today. I would leave a note with some nice “local” expressions.

  8. Yeah, more than likely we probably won’t do anything, not even a note…let’s hope it just moves next week!

  9. Mystery solved! I was not in the office, but M told me a little old lady hopped in the car and zoomed away so fast she couldn’t say anything. She must have known we’d be mad so made a mad dash. At least it’s gone!

  10. Hooray

  11. The funny thing is now one of the motorinos that usually parks there parked sideways to block out the space so no car could get in. šŸ™‚
