Musician, Piazza Navona

Posted on Dec 9, 2008 | 11 comments

M and I took a spin through the Christmas Market in Piazza Navona last night (which is where the photo of the chestnuts came from). I’ll post more photos over the coming days. First up, this musician, who was playing Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven.” He reminds me of someone I know.

  1. What a wonderful energy to this photo, love it!

  2. It is such a vibrant street scene.

  3. Nice photo, Jessica.

I like the song “Stairway to heaven”.
But In thoes days, I was crazy about Ritchie Blackmore.
Actually Ritchie was more popular than Jimmy Page, in Japan.
Especially I loved the band “Rainbow”,Ritcie played with Cozy Powell(drums).

  4. Great street night shot! You have the most amazing light on your photos, love it!

  5. Excellent city scene at night!

  6. Very warm photo. Street musician should always be encouraged. The proof of that is the children watching in your photo.

    Love your chestnut photo.

Greetings from Denton from Greenville Daily Photo and the Daily Photo Map.

  7. Thanks for the response everyone! The piazza was buzzing because it was holiday and all the families were out. This piazza is known for having lots of street performers.

Nobu – I’m not familiar with Ritchie Blackmore, now I’ll have to look him up!

Denton – I wholeheartedly agree that they should be encouraged as well. They really add character to the city.

  8. great lighting and I love the little girl with her cotton candy. You captured a great moment.

  9. His version of "Stairway to heaven" certainly gets me the goose bumps ;o) His name is Marcello Calabrese by the way, there's some movies on youtube where you can hear&see him perform. Nice picture, I like the colors and reflections.

  10. Wow, thanks so much for the name! I’ll look him up.

  11. When i lived in Rome over christmas i heard that playing in the Piazza from my widow, I always wondered who that was.
