Rainy Evening in Largo Argentina

Posted on Jan 25, 2009 | 10 comments

As usual, it rained last night here in Rome. This winter has been really horrible for rain, the worst I’ve seen since I’ve been here. I took a post on a corner of Largo Argentina to take some photos and got this shot of a girl waiting to cross the street by the taxi stand and of people waiting under their umbrellas for the bus to come along. Let me tell you, it was not easy as I was balancing my umbrella and the camera!

  1. I especially love the first photo with the movement of the train and the umbrellas up against the blue. Great photo

  2. I really like the 1st shot! It seems you have placed the ‘extras’ on the right spots πŸ™‚

  3. I like your first photo very much! But both have perfect lighting!

  4. Thanks everyone. Both shots were cases of “oh, let’s shoot this and see how it looks” and then you look at the result and thing, ooh I love this! I love it when that happens. I think the light in Rome is some of the best anywhere in the world.

  5. The first photo is, in my opinion too, a far better one. JM is right it feels like staged, but obviously isn’t… Great shot!

  6. Hehe Jessi, it could be worse, like -25C. Right now I’d love to have some rain πŸ™‚

  7. The first pic is a very good photo. Composition and lighting are perfect. The other is without a true focal point… but I think that it tell how we live in Rome these days: traffic and rain!

  8. I agree that first shot is incredible.

The light is Rome is breathtaking. It was the first thing I noticed when I came here three year ago on my first visit.

  9. Wow, this is quickly becoming a favorite photo of the blog! Alfredo, Rome certainly is full of rain and traffic these days, with no end in sight!

  10. The umbrellas are wonderful. Hope your show was a big success. Cheers from BC!
