Say Hello! – A Street Portrait

Posted on Mar 11, 2009 | 8 comments

I was taking photos of Piazza Madonna dei Monti a few weeks ago when these two street musicians took notice and gave a little wave to the camera. To be honest I’m too shy to go around asking people permission to take their photos so hadn’t even thought to do it. Hello back to you!!

  1. Ah Monti-I can taste the espresso and cornetto now. The men look like they are enjoying themselves

  2. I think they approved of your picture taking…or, maybe it was you they approved of!

  3. Ha! That looks cool…seems like they appreciated the attention.

  4. Haha yes, they were in a jovial mood. I’m sure it didn’t hurt that I was a girl, but hey, if it makes for a good photo, I’ll take it.

  5. Oh you need to get your nerve up and do it! In Paris all I did was smile really big and point to my camera. ( I didn’t know may I tak you photo in French). They always nodded and some even posed for me. Love these two guys. See, your first street portrait under your belt!

  6. I know, I know….I have issues 🙂 I’m sure I’ll get braver as time goes by. I actually took some in San Lorenzo one night as well at the request of some people in the square who saw me photographing, but they didn’t come out that great. Slowly but surely!

  7. Hey, that is RIGHT where I am staying in May 🙂 Thanks for the sneak-peak Jess.

  8. My pleasure! This square is a lot of fun.
