Pizzeria Forno a Legna

Posted on Apr 3, 2009 | 5 comments

It’s a very busy day today and I don’t have much time to write, but I thought I’d leave you with this sign. The wood burning oven is the magic that helps make Italy’s pizza so delicious.

There are whole sites dedicated to the magic of the forno a legna, here are a selection:

Costruzione di un forno a legna (in Italiano)

Il Forno di Pane (in Italiano)

Traditional Oven (English)

I’m heading out to some cool events this weekend, including the opening of this interesting exhibit by Sten (see his Flickr here), so I should have a bunch of good stuff for you coming up. Buon weekend!

  1. Great blog, love following you each day. I loved my visit to Rome, and one day, I will return.

  2. Fantastic sign! I look forward to more of your images.

  3. Hello Jessica — Firstly I'm very jealous as I LOVE Rome and would love to live there. Secondly, I am wondering where you took that picture? It is a restaurant my husband and I went to years ago and would like to return to. I remember it was close to a metro station, but can't remember where. Any help would be much appreciated. Continue to enjoy Roma! Great blog! Thanks!

  4. Hi Jude, Thanks for writing. The restaurant is on via dei Capocci in the Monti neighborhood of Rome. Sorry I don't know the name offhand because I've never actually eaten there! It is quite close to the Metro Cavour station, so now you know where to go when you come back.

  5. Jessica — thanks so much for your response. Just naming the metro station helped, not to mention the street, thank you very much! And if you get a chance, do pop in for a bite there. We were last there in 2008 and it was fantastic! I hope it's still as good as we hope to return on our next trip which is coming up soon. Thanks again for you help.
    Take care! Ciao!! 🙂
