Metro Cavour

Posted on Aug 18, 2009 | 7 comments

As happens sometimes, I wasn’t convinced this would come out well when I took the photo and looked at the result on my little viewfinder, but once seeing it at home, I really loved it. To me it evokes the city in August – hot, sweltering heat and sun emanating from the black streets. The emptiness of Rome with just a few brave folks surviving in the hot sun. The shot was taken at around 5 pm with the sun still strong and bearing down on the Cavour metro stop. Normally there would be people swarming in and out of the station, but this time it’s just a solitary figure on the steps.

This is August in Rome.

  2. That is a beautiful picture!

  3. I really like the pure simplicity, content, and the graphic quality of your photography.

It is very colourful and eye catching. Good luck with your photography and the blog.

  4. For those willing to brave the heat, do you think August is a good month to spend in Rome?

  5. Thanks everyone, glad you like the photo. I thought it captured a nice moment as well.

Trevor – Thank you very much for your kind words. Good luck with your blogs as well!

Garret – I think it's ok, but it wouldn't be my ideal if I had to pick a month. I'd rather come in early March or late October when it's not so hot, everything is open, and there aren't the crowds.

  6. This is really a GREAT shot, Jessica.

  7. Grazie mille!
