EUR in Black and White

A few days ago I posted a photo of the Colosseo Quadrato in EUR. One that’s full of color and vibrancy, but I wanted to show this second shot as well to highlight how important light and color (or lack of) can really change the atmosphere of a photo. This one is much truer to the gritty nature of the area, in my mind. There are long steps leading down from the back of the building to the main road and you’ll see a couple perched there, hanging out as the sun set. There was also a women’s track team doing sprints! Of course the ubiquitous graffiti and also some remnants of construction. A much more urban feel than the photo from a few days ago and both serve to contrast both the beauty of the building and the urban beauty that surrounds it.

By the way, this photo was featured as one of the urban shots of the week on the website UrbanArtCore. It’s run by a guy from Germany and has some really interesting stuff, so check it out!

  1. Enjouying your posts. I love the photos. I'm still dreaming of a Canon XTi Rebel and taking some classes. My goal to get done by July (gives me 1 year to save $).

Keep up the great work! 🙂 Lisa B

  2. Hi Lisa….good luck with your camera goal…let me know how it goes!
