I’ve been wanting to get a shot of this newsstand on the corner of via Cavour and via Panisperna for awhile and I finally got the chance tonight. Thanks to my friend Katie, who let me borrow her wide angle lens (which I’m in love with and want so bad now!), I have been able to experiment with new angles. I love this view of the newsstand, where inside you just see the bottom half of the old lady who works there. You can also see all the old books piled inside, and if you think about it, she’s probably spent a good portion of her life inside that newsstand, making it a second home. She had a friend visiting (you can make out her shoes on the other side of the newsstand) and they were having a little chat while the world went by.

  1. Absolutely beautiful! The use of mixed lighting is quite stunning. Mentioned your blog in a recent post. Keep up the great work.

  2. Thanks so much! I just looked at your blog and it's fantastic. Seems like a great resource for discovering new photoblogs, so I really appreciate the mention.

  3. You take beautiful photographs and you are making me homesick for Italy!

  4. This is such a great photo, Jessica. You are a fantastic photographer and I love the way you bring out Rome's life. Complimenti!

  5. Thank you Anna Maria and Valeria! Anna Maria, I hope you will get to visit soon!
