Restoration Still Life

Posted on Oct 10, 2009 | 0 comments

These little bits of hardware are something you see all around Rome when you look closely. With all the history in the city, it’s no wonder that restoration is big business. The metal bits you see in front are used to hold together pieces of scaffolding that are regularly erected through the city when something is being restored. The fact that the scaffolding in this case was rested on blocks of wood doesn’t inspire too much confidence in me, but hey, it didn’t seem to be falling down so they must know more than I do. One of the newest announcements in terms of restoring monuments is in regards to the Colosseum, but that’s just one of thousands of monuments and buildings that are in need of a touch up.
