Urban Portrait: Ex-mattatoio

Posted on Nov 20, 2009 | 11 comments

Last Saturday I went to the ex-mattatoio (yes the same place where MACRO is located) for an organic food market that takes place there. On my way in I noticed a little hexagonal building all graffiti ridden on the outside and locked up. In between the metal grates I got a shot inside and took this urban photo. I’m not really sure what roll this building used to have at the slaughterhouse, any ideas? Later today I’ll post a color photo of the exterior.

  1. It feels as if you've opened the lid and given us a glimpse of another world that exists parallel to our own and yet entirely independent. As if this is the portal between two realities.

  2. Hello Jessica, the correct name is ex-mattatoio (one more "t").
    Impressive BW as usual.

    Cheers

  6. Beautiful image.

  7. I absolutely love that picture. The graffiti looks amazing in black and white… it gives it a real 'gothic' look.

  8. Bravissima. Both photos are great. I like the bw best, though. It has a lot of charachter, the air is still and the light is perfect.
