People Watching, Sunday Stroll

Posted on Dec 7, 2009 | 8 comments

I was taking a lot of photos of the stairs leading up to the Giardino del Quirinale (entry on via Piacenza), but this was by far my favorite. This is a sight you see a lot, older ladies out for a stroll, arms clutching on to each other, but still cutting an elegant figure. I felt like it also really described the season, chilly enough to break out your sweaters and heavier jackets, but still nice enough to want to walk around for a few hours and enjoy the sunshine.

  1. This would make a perfect image for a note card that girlfriends can give each other. Beautiful and quite poignant too.

  2. Lovely photo.

I notice men around that age walking arm and arm too. I think it's sweet.

  3. This is an eloquent and elegant image. Excellent composition!

  4. Beautiful shot . Love the colors.

  5. This is a really nice shot and a good composition too.

  6. Perfect photo… I really like your photos from the last 6 or so months, because they are getting better and better and I like them more and more. šŸ™‚

  7. The site of the older ladies clutching, it brings back memories, as it seems one would encounter this in the U.S.A. past, but not much anymore. More prevelant in Italy I guess.

  8. Thanks everyone, yes, this is a scene you will see a lot here, with both older women and men alike. I tend to notice that older people are out and about more in Italy than I've noticed in the US.

Honza – Thank you so much for the compliment! I think they've gotten better too. šŸ™‚
