Teatro Marcello

Posted on Mar 16, 2010 | 8 comments

I like to think of this theater as the Colosseum’s older, neglected brother. Standing on the edge of the Jewish Ghetto, the Teatro Marcello is in great shape. It doesn’t have regular opening hours, but they usually hold concerts there in the summer. I’ve never been, but maybe I’ll finally get around to it this year.

  1. I agree about old Marcello, alway's in the younger brother's shadow…

Great photo, and in the foreground my absolute favorite car, the old model Cinquecento!

    Have a great week,
    Eleonora xx

  2. Just got the same feeling. Always want to go and see the inside of the teatro when I'm in Rome. And the shot with the Cinquecento is absolutely "tipica". Going to Rome again in May, counting the days when I see your pictures.

  3. Although looking a bit battered now, the little Fiat is still full of character. I have one of the new models, and it looks great in black.

  4. I used to always mistake Teatro Marcello for the Colosseum when I first came to Rome, and it completely and utterly confused me.

  5. Magnificent! Two italian icons…

  6. Haha; I love how the Fiat? fits perfectly in that tiny parking spot. No easy parallel parking feat!

  7. Sorry for the double comment! I forgot to introduce myself!

I'm a 'pseudo' photographer, and I just moved to Beijing from the US. I came across your blog from some expat blog network.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of Rome through your images!
