Today after work I went over to MACRO for the “Giornata della Creativita‘” (Creative Day), which showed off the best of innovation, design, and the arts in Rome. So who are these people in the photo above? As part of the day the Provincia sponsored the publication of a book called Roma Creativa that details over 100 creative individuals in the city, broken into categories like “Art,” “Fashion,” “Graphics and Communication,” and “Photography.” And guess what? I have been included in the Graphics and Communication section for my work on the blog! I was quite flattered to be asked and alongside me in the book are many people I’ve mentioned on the blog in the past, from Elsewhere Factory (who helped me organize my exhibit in March) to NUFactory (who organized Outdoor), from Sten + Lex to Fefe Project. It even comes with a map of “creative places” in Rome and the back of the book lists a bunch of the museums and clubs that hold interesting events. Thank you to Next Exit, who helped put together the volume and asked if I’d like to be in it. If you can get your hand on a copy (the 1000 they printed to hand out at the event were all taken, but I’ve heard they’ll print more), it’s a vivid picture of people in the city all trying their hardest to do something creative in a city and can be a bit “behind” when it comes to these things. Let’s hope the fact that the Provincia sponsored the project means that they’ll continue to support the creative energy here in Rome.
Ah, and I can’t forget to give props to Barbara Oizmund, who did all the portraits that you see in the book. Wonderful job!
