Box 3

Posted on Jul 5, 2010 | 3 comments

A few weeks ago I woke up and saw these posters all over Pigneto. Being the lunatic I am, I immediately went out and photographed a bunch and was thinking of who could have possibly done them. A quick glance at Facebook told me they were part of an installation done by Gianfranco Grosso for Box 3 Festival. I wrote about this festival last year, as I met Sten and Lex last year when they were installing posters at Rialto for Box. Now in its fourth year the festival, created by Salvatore Mauro and Anna Milano Carè, will hold a collective show at MLAC (Museo Laboratorio di Arte Contemporanea), La Sapienza, opening on July 6 at 7 pm. From 10 pm onwards the opening party will have live music and visual projections. I’ll definitely be there to check out the work by all of the artists, which will include a site specific stencil created by Sten and Lex. For the entire program and more details, check out

  1. Nice! Interesting artwork and makes for a great photo.

  2. I'm ever fascinated by facade like this, preserve the signs of the events through the time in a very haptic way.

In this sense the poster attachment is a sort of 'call' for your attention.

    Thanks for sharing this!

  3. Yes, Rome is great for these sort of urban decay shots.
