The Cross

Last night I did something that I haven’t for awhile, which is wander around after work and taking photos. It’s definitely something I used to do more when the blog was shiny and new, but I must confess, it’s getting harder. Or maybe it’s the winter months that make it less appealing. I was walking around and noticed this lovely iron cross on the front of army barracks up behind via Cavour. Something about the way it cast a shadow on the building really struck me and I snapped this shot. Photography really does make you open up and look at the little things and, luckily, Rome is full of so many “little things” that it constantly keeps things interesting and creative. As I snapped away trying to get the perfect shot, I kept thinking someone was going to lean out that window at any minute and start yelling at me, thinking I was some pervert trying to shoot them inside their house.

  1. Mysterious, almost sinister atmosphere! I love the blur around the edges, adds to the mystique. The window pane only cleaned half way up, there on the left really looks like a ghost standing behind the glass…

    Wonderful shot, Jessica.

  2. Thanks Eleonora! In an overexposed shot I took it looks like the thing on the left is some sort of architectural element inside.
