In front of the information kiosk by Santa Maria Maggiore most tourists stand blindly by the bus stop not even really paying attention to the curious plastic hut that has been stretched over a bench. However, those in the area all know it’s the makeshift home of an elderly woman who lives inside rain or shine. If I’m not mistaken, I believe she’s German and the hut has been there for years. You’ll see her resting her feet here on a hot August day – I can’t even imagine how hot it must be inside under the plastic tarps.
