BR1, born in Southern Italy but having spent a long spell in Turin for university, is an artist I was fortunate enough to have stumbled upon back in the early years when I was learning about street art.  Believe it or not, I think I first came upon him on My Space (remember My Space?) and was utterly intrigued and shocked to find a young Italian male who seemed to have made an entire artistic career depicting the lives of Islamic women.  While many of his posters get ripped down, this one located in Pigneto has been kicking around good as new since October.  I thought it fitting to post today as BR1 works on his new show with OX, opening March 1, at Laszlo Biro.  It will be an interesting collaboration, given both artist’s penache for bright, bold colors – OX with a focus on the abstract and BR1 with his figurative focus.  The gallery hints at a work based around the idea of intervening in advertising, again fitting of both artists’ solo work.
